Larry Berz, Planetarium Director/Astronomy Educator

Larry Berz, Planetarium Director/Astronomy Educator A native of Chicago, Larry Berz, aka “Mr. B”, moved to the County in 1988 to serve as the Science Center’s Planetarium Director/Astronomy Educator.

Larry received his B.A. from Stanford University in 1978/79, and also received formal training as a planetarium professional from the Adler Planetarium of Chicago in 1986/87.

In addition, Larry serves as Instructor of Astronomy at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) in Limestone. Since 1997, he also participates as senior instructor of the Summer Exploration programs for boys and girls at the MSSM.

Since 2000, he has regularly participated in the Project Explorer program at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

He also regularly participates in the annual Young Author Program, Project SAGE for senior learning, and Gifted and Talented opportunities.

Larry was recipient of the University of Maine Outstanding Teacher Award in 2006.

Tricia (Pendleton) Langner is a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, and the University of Maine Orono.

Upon graduating from UMO, Tricia moved to New Hampshire where she worked in the hospitality industry for ten years as an event planner. While in New Hampshire, she met her husband, Rob and married in 1994. Following Rob’s graduation from Suffolk Law School, they moved back to Fort Fairfield where they currently reside with their three children, Malcolm, Colby and Olivia.
